Fry and Co. was formed in 1957 by Charles and Ed Fry. The world's
first belt power turn conveyor was invented, built and sold that
year for an airport baggage handling facility. Portec, Flowmaster
acquired Fry and Co. in 1968 and since then there have been many
enhancements to the original belt power turn. Along with the addition
of a number of specialized material handling products, Portec continues
to meet the needs of over 50,000 clients around the world.
A complimentary line to all of our material handling products,
Portec flat and spiral belt curves, chutes and merges are pioneered
products in the industry since 1957.
Portec, Flowmaster has the ability to produce equipment to handle
all ranges of products and their specialty material handling equipment
has been incorporated in applications from airport baggage handling
systems, mail/parcel handling, to food manufacturing, distribution,
processing facilities, to cement, fertilizer, salt and masonry plants.
DS Handling and Portec, Flowmaster are known for tackling unusual
and difficult applications; by designing equipment to meet those
particular challenges.
Even in harsh and unforgiving environments, the fact that Portec
conveyors built and installed in the late 1950's are still in operation;
offers substantial evidence to the durability and overall function
of Flowmaster conveyor units.
